Message from President, AIOS

"When purpose is shared, Vision becomes Legacy"

Dear Esteemed Colleagues, Seniors, Teachers, and Dear Friends,

As I stand before you at the 84th Annual Conference of the All India Ophthalmological Society, my heart is filled with gratitude, pride, and deep emotion.

AIOC 2026 is not merely a conference — it is the culmination of a year-long journey of dedication, collaboration, and tireless effort by countless hands and brilliant minds who believed in a shared vision of excellence.

Over this past year, serving as your President has been an incredibly giving experience. It has humbled me, strengthened me, and enriched me beyond measure. I have witnessed first-hand the passion with which our members work — not for recognition, but for the advancement of Indian Ophthalmology and the betterment of patient care across our nation.

I am proud that together, we translated vision into action.

AIOS SEE Project – The first National AIOS Project formally accepted by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. This landmark National survey of Refractive Error and Refractive Error Coverage in School Going Children reflects our commitment to structured, nationwide ophthalmic outreach and sustainable eye care delivery to the child population of our country.

READS Project – Phase 2 – Strengthening accessibility, equity, and digital academic empowerment across regions, ensuring that standardised and structured training of our ophthalmic residents truly reaches every corner of our country.

National Diabetic Retinopathy Project – A focused, mission-driven initiative to combat one of the leading causes of preventable blindness in India, reinforcing AIOS responsibility toward public health.

These are not just projects — they are foundations for the future. They represent continuity, collaboration with the Government of India, and AIOS stepping confidently into a leadership role in national eye health policy.

When I assumed office, I carried with me a simple yet powerful resolve — that AIOS must not only lead academically, but also serve nationally.

As I conclude my tenure, I do so with immense satisfaction and gratitude. This one-year journey has been profoundly fulfilling — not because of titles held, but because of trust received and bonds strengthened.

It is my honour to welcome our incoming President, Dr. Jeewan Singh Titiyal. A visionary academician, an inspiring teacher, and a leader of exceptional integrity, I am confident that under his stewardship, AIOS will scale greater heights and continue to illuminate the path of excellence for generations to come.

Let AIOC 2026 be remembered not only for its scientific brilliance, but for the spirit of unity, camaraderie, and inspiration that binds us as one ophthalmic family.
